6 Ways To Enjoy The Spring Weather In NYC

The Spring weather finally here. Time to shed the seasonal depression and get outside to enjoy the sunshine! Whether you’re taking a stroll through Central Park with the family or checking out the awesome street art on the High Line, NYC is a beautiful place to soak up the sun. Check out these awesome ways to get some exercise and enjoy the nice weather in NYC!

1. Botanical Gardens

The various Botanical Gardens of NYC are great for celebrating the arrival of Spring! There are multiple gardens spread throughout the city, all of which are filled with gorgeous flowers that are sure to put a smile on your face. One of the most notable events is the Cherry Blossom Festival at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The date changes every year depending on when the blossoms are blooming, but it’s definitely worth checking out. Pick nice a day to visit one or two of the gardens to get some vitamin D and help get those 10,000 steps

2. High Line

If you’re more interested in street art than flowers, then the High Line is for you! This ‘park’ is built on old train tracks on the lower West Side of Manhattan that are elevated above street level to give you a unique view of the city. While the views are cool, the best part is the street art you get to see along the way! From interesting sculptures to huge graffiti masterpieces, you never know what you’re going to see. The High Line is also a great place to go jogging or walking, so if you the Botanical Gardens didn’t quite get you to 10,000 steps, the High Line has you covered!

3. Central Park Picnic

There’s nothing like a nice picnic on a warm Spring day, and Central Park is a perfect place to set up shop. In fact, Central Park is so big that you could have a picnic in Central park dozens of times and still go to a unique spot each time. Some of the most scenic spots for a picnic that you might want to check out are Belvedere Castle, Bow Bridge, and The Pool!

4. Farmers Market

If you’re going to have a picnic, you’re going to need some healthy food to bring with you. What better way to get fresh food than directly from the farmers themselves? Lucky for you, there’s plenty of farmers markets scattered across the city. Most farmers markets are open on Saturdays and Sundays, but if you’re strategic, you can get fresh food right from the source almost any day of the week.

5. Bryant Park Yoga

If you’re a yogi, you’ve got to check out yoga in Bryant Park. The classes are taught by awesome instructors that welcome all levels of yoga practitioners. Not to mention, it doesn’t cost a dime to participate. They even provide yoga mats if you don’t have your own! Stop by Bryant Park for an unforgettable yoga experience on Tuesday mornings from 10am to 11am or Thursday evenings from 6pm-7pm.

6. River Kayaking

If you like being on the water, then you need to check out the kayaking scene in NYC! There’s multiple boathouses throughout the city that offer kayaking all through the spring and summer. You can kayak out of the Manhattan Community Boathouse, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse, or even the Downtown Boathouse! The best part? Most of the boathouses offer kayaking for free, so you can get a good workout in without breaking the bank!

There are plenty of ways to get out and enjoy the nice weather in the city that never sleeps! Even if none of these activities sound interesting to you, there’s bound to be something going on in NYC to get you outside and enjoying the sunshine!
